Installing website

1. Copy the contents of the /site folder from the installation media to the C:\Edutizer\Site folder. You may choose to copy the files to some other folder.
 
NB! Clear the Read-only attribute of the copied files.

2. Using IIS Manager, create new web site and point the home directory to C:\Edutizer\Site.
On the wizard's Web Site Access Permissions page, allow the following permissions: Read and Run scripts (such as ASP)

3. Using IIS Manager, create applications in the following folders
  • admin
  • admin2
  • auto
  • chat
  • extras
  • student
  • teacher
 
For this - right-click on the folder in the IIS Manager. Choose Options.
Go to the Directory tab. Click Create application. Set the Execute protections to Scripts Only (default value). Click OK.
 
4. Set ASP error handlers for student and teacher folders.
 
For this - right-click on the folder in the IIS Manager. Choose Options.
Go to the Custom Errors tab. Set the 500;100 Error Mapping to
         Message type: URL
         URL: /teacher/error.asp (for the teacher app)
         URL: /student/error.asp (for the student app)
 
5. Set special file and folder permissions:
 
For the following files and folders, please allow the IUSR_MACHINE Full control
  • C:\Edutizer\Site\files\
  • C:\Edutizer\Site\xmldata\
 
6. Set the database connection string
 
To set the database connection string, edit the file C:\Edutizer\Site\inc\dal\dal_settings.asp
 
Set the correct parameters in the connection string – the server name and the edu_user password.
