Configuring XML user import

Edutizer suppport importing users from XML source. For user import, Edutizer uses edu_import/edu_students branch of the Edutizer import/export XML schema. You can also look at this sample student import XML file.

If configured, Edutizer will attempt to import students each time the nightly job (daily.asp) is run. Edutizer will connect to the specifed URL, retrieve users XML and attempt to import it into database. User import will be perfomed as a all-or-nothing transaction. The error log will be generated showing all data conflicts that prevented the transaction from being commited.

In order to user XML student import, you must specify business unit ID for the server. This is done on the General tab of server settings. If there is no specific value, just use 0 as the Business Unit ID.

Note: value of the business unit id will be appended to the XML file URL in form ?country=xx, where xx is the value of business unit id. If the URL string already contains query parameters, &country=xx will be used.

Switch to User import tab and select XML as Student import scheme.
Enter XML import URL.
Note for OTA users: enter servlet URL with the ?export=3 (3- for user export).Business Unit Id (Country) will be added automatically.

You have two configuration options:
  • Unique user identifier attribute - the <id> field in the XML source will be mapped agaist this attribute
  • Disable unlisted users - any student role users that are not muched in the XML source, will be archived.
Click Save this to save settings.
