How to create multi-part exam test

To create new multi-part exam test you must first create some question from that can be used in exam test – questions with usage class set to “Exam” or “All”. If you have some questions ready, go to [Tests], and choose (new) Test compilation wizard.

A good certification test has 3-5 test parts containing 10-15 questions each. Test compilation wizard starts with test properties: title, directions, class, number of test parts and difficulty level.

To create an exam test set usage class to “Exam”. Set the number of test parts. Leave the “Multilevel test” checkbox unchecked.

You can navigate the wizard forward by saving the data on the screen (click (save) Save and Next)  and back (click (back) ).

NB! The changed data will not be saved to the database unless you complete the wizard!

Repeat this procedure for every test part of your exam test
  • On the test part details page, enter test part title.
  • Set the time limit for the test part. Please note that this the actual time that the student will have to answer the questions from this test part.
  • Enter directions for the test part. Note that the test engine will not show the directions for the first test part. Move to the next page by clicking (save) Save and Next.
  • The next page is test part contents page. Use the search form to display questions from selected folder(s) and optional search criteria. Select folder from the list and click (search). Please note that the search engine automatically limits you to questions of usage classes “Exam” and “All”.
  • Select one or more questions from the list and add them to the test part by clicking (new) Add questions. Repeat this search-select-add procedure for as many times as you need to add all the questions you wanted to the test. Finish this part of the wizard by clicking (save) Save and next to go to the next test part.

The next part of the wixard is for placing the exercise in fast folders. If you do not use fast folder functionality, skip this part of the wizard by clicking (save) Save and next.

To add new fast folder, select it from the list and click (new) Add fast folder. Repeat this for all fast folders you want to place your exercise to. Finish this part by clicking (save) Save and next.

You now have completed the test compilation wizard. You must save your data to the database. To do this, choose (save) Make test active or (save) Make test passive to set the exercise’s state. The page will be reloaded with test details view.
