How to prevent students from cheeting during the exam?
If possible, student will cheat. There is not much to be done about that, except make it really hard. Here are few tips how to prevent cheating on
:
- Set really tight exam duration - set exam duration short, so that student will have enough time to complete the test but no time really to look up answers anywhere
- Hide question comments from students - this will prevent student that have already completed the test from sharing their results with others (on the exam data sheet there is a checkbox "Show comments", un-check it)
- Use dymanic test for exams - students will have different sets of questions so they cannot collaborate on the exam efficiently. Prepare exam tests with at least 50% more questions than presented to the student to ensure good diversity of questions.
- Shift results announce period to start after the end of the exam period - thus student will not know his/her result and not be able to share experience with others. You have to shift the results announcement for exams that include free form questions anyway to prevent untimely student riots
